Tantrik Teachings on the Daśamahāvidyās

 Led by Dharma Bodhi

This 2–day online course on the 10 Wisdom Goddesses ( Daśamahāvidyā in Sanskrit) will introduce you to a special group of 10 Tutelary-Protective Deities of the Indian Tantrik tradition.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

During this 2-day journey into the mystical reality of “Spontaneous Arising Awareness Beings” or deities in simpler language, you will become familiar with each of the goddesses, and in so doing will begin to recognize a special affinity with one or more of them.

This type of special affinity is a sign of a positive karmic connection, which can be made manifest in the practitioner’s life and sadhana through the agency of ritual empowerment (abhiśekham in Sanskrit) into the direct experience of the deity.

This online introduction to the 10 Wisdom Goddesses serves as a good first step in developing a practice in the Way of Water. Students can come away from the weekend with a sense of the special connection to one of the Wisdom Goddesses and then cultivate a deeper connection to Her before coming to Costa Rica to “meet” Her in-person during ritual initiation or abhiśekham.

The ritual empowerments will be performed during the in-person Wisdom Goddess Retreat held at the TMY Costa Rica Retreat Center as part of Level II Way of Water curriculum. This is an ancient form of “oracular ritual” wherein one of the 10 Wisdom Goddesses arrives in the open Presence of the ritual space and “chooses” the student.

Through ritual empowerment the student enters the world (the enlightened mandala) of their chosen deity and through the sadhana (practice) of the deity continues to develop that connection and receive the positive influence of the deity’s blessing power. Each deity’s sadhana includes a visualization & mantra practice, a puja, and sometimes special offerings such as songs, dances, preferred clothing colors and foods, etc.

More about Way of the Water:

2023 is the year of Water!

In 2023 we will be offering retreats in the Way of Water. The Way of Water is the Tantrik path & practice of ritual, kriya & deity yoga. Using a fusion of action, visualizing and feeling in daily sadhana, you will learn to open the door to Spiritwhich will establish an awakened connection to the bliss and joy inherent in your Essence-Heart.

The Way of Water – Level II will include Abhiśekams of the 10 Tantrik Goddesses known as the Mahāvidyās. Each Goddess represents a virtuous ray, or enlightened personality, which spontaneously arises from the one Base of our Essential Nature. In this class you will learn about each of the Mahāvidyas and their place in the Way of Water path.

The Way of Water uses ritual action that fuses body, speech and mind combined with Kriya Yoga (inner energy system work), Mantra Yoga and Visualizations to bring the practitioner into direct contact with their True Nature through the agency of the Blessing Power of the Enlightened Deities of the Tantrik tradition and one’s own inner subtle energy system.

We will offer you the deepest Tantrik Yoga training in:
  •  Puja & Yajña  (Rituals based on water and fire offerings)
  •  Deity Yoga & Mantra Yoga
  •  Kriya Yoga
  •  Empowerment Initiations into the practice of the 10 Wisdom Goddesses
